Karnataka PSI scam: Prime accused Divya Hagaragi’s husband Rajesh gets bail

The Kalaburagi bench of the Karnataka excessive courtroom on Tuesday granted bail to Jnana Jyothi Schooling Society president Rajesh Hagaragi in reference to the police sub-inspector (PSI) recruitment examination rip-off.

Rajesh is the husband of BJP employee Divya Hagaragi, a primary accused within the case, and was arrested on April 7 for allegedly serving to her to flee from the home when the police went there to arrest her.

Choose M G Uma, in her order, noticed that bail couldn’t be denied simply because Rajesh is Divya’s husband and there was no severe proof towards him concerning harbouring the prime accused. As per the conditional bail, the courtroom ordered that Rajesh should not attempt to destroy any proof and he isn’t allowed to go exterior the bounds of the involved police station with out permission.

The general public prosecutor argued it was a large financial offence and requested the courtroom to not grant bail to Rajesh. Nevertheless, Avinash Upalaokar, who appeared for Rajesh, identified that Mallikarjun Melakundi, the fifteenth accused within the case who has been charged with prison conspiracy, tampering of proof and harbouring an offender, was granted bail.

The examination for PSI recruitment had been cancelled after the Legal Investigation Division (CID) police detected malpractices in its conduct. The examination for vacancies to 545 posts of police sub-inspector was held on October 3, 2021, and round 54,041 college students appeared for it. The state authorities is but to announce the brand new dates for the examination.

At current, the police have registered eight FIRs throughout Karnataka and have filed three chargesheets within the wake of the rip-off. In keeping with Karnataka house minister Araga Jnanendra, a complete of 97 individuals have been arrested together with 26 cops.
