Police: 3 arrested for assaulting Muslim man for travelling with Hindu woman | Bengaluru

Three days after a 20-year-old man was allegedly assaulted whereas travelling in a bus with a lady in Mangaluru, three individuals have been arrested in reference to the case, stated police on Sunday.

Mangaluru metropolis police on Saturday arrested Mangaluru-based Muthu (18), Prakash (21) and Rakesh (23) for allegedly assaulting Seyad Raseem Ummar close to Nanthoor circle in Mangaluru on Thursday. The police stated Ummar and a lady have been travelling in a bus from Karkala when the accused stopped the bus, dragged Ummar out and allegedly thrashed him.

Ummar is a 3rd 12 months BE (data science) scholar at NITTE Institute of Know-how, Karkala.

Within the FIR registered on the Kadri police station, criticism Ummar had alleged that “the accused entered into the and abused him verbally. The accused had additionally requested for my ID card, after which they thrashed me”.

“In addition they threatened him from telling anybody concerning the incident,” the FIR acknowledged.

On Friday, ADGP (regulation and order) Alok Kumar had tweeted that applicable motion was being taken towards the accused.

The accused have hyperlinks with right-wing teams Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), stated police. In the meantime, VHP chief from Mangaluru, Sharan Pumpwell, stated instances of ‘love jihad’ are on the rise within the area.
