A Bengaluru-based household’s tweet went viral after it posted a video tagging Air India and alleged it was not allowed to board the flight with their pet canine regardless of having a boarding go and following the airline guidelines. The household was travelling from Bengaluru to Amritsar through Delhi on flight AI 503 on Saturday, it mentioned.
The video has gone viral on social media with many customers sympathising with them and condemning Air India as an “anti-pet” airline.

“Our pet weighs 4.2 kilos, with the bag she is hardly 5 kilos. As per the foundations, she will fly contained in the cabin. We acquired all of the checks…certificates executed. She was issued boarding by Air India immediately after which we waited for 4 hours…She (the pet) waited peacfully…with out creating points…she was petted by at the least 250 folks within the airport (lounge)…,” Shenoy narrated.
“Lastly…the pilot, Captain Chopra denied entry to us, or that’s what was advised to us,” he mentioned, including that the flight seemed to be “overbooked” and which may be why they had been refused to board.
“We had been advised to go away your pet and go…It’s nearly as good as leaving your child and flying…Is that this what journey in fashionable India has grow to be,” he requested, expressing his displeasure.
Twitter calls for motion
The video was shared by many customers, together with journalists and distinguished figures, who supported the household and sought motion in opposition to Air India and the pilot. “Heavy fantastic on AI and deroster the Captain please,” mentioned a person.
Actor Ranvir Shorey, too, shared the video, saying, “Air journey in India is a nightmare in the intervening time anyway, the very last thing we’d like is temperamental pilots inconveniencing passengers on a whim! #fail @airindiain”
Air India responds
Responding to the clip, Air India mentioned, “Sir, we love our furry associates as a lot as you do. Our Bengaluru Airport staff had prolonged all help to make sure your Fluffy may fly with us on board.”
“Our laid-down Coverage for the Carriage of Pets on Home Flights clearly mentions that “pet carriage is topic to the approval of the commander of the flight,” the airline mentioned, including that the commander of the flight “was not absolutely happy with the cage and muzzle of the pet which is why he couldn’t permit it to be carried within the cabin”.
The passenger replied to it saying the knowledge was false and accused them of spreading lies. “That is false data, if this was the case your staff wouldn’t have given her a boarding go. We went by way of all of the verification of the qualification of Fluffy’s journey eligibility and health 4 hours earlier than the flight. Please cease pedalling white lies,” he mentioned.
Air India has provided a revalidation of the tickets for the whole journey on the subsequent day as “a goodwill gesture”.
Air India is without doubt one of the few flights in India that claims it permits passengers to hold their pet on flight, offered the phrases and situations match the outline of the pet.
