Bommai unveils Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan’s memorial | Bengaluru

Karnataka chief minister Basavaraja Bommai unveiled Kannada actor Dr Vishnuvardhan’s memorial at Halalu village on H D Kote street on the outskirts of Mysuru on Sunday.

The favored Kannada movie actor handed away on December 30, 2009. After 13 years of his demise, the memorial has come up in Mysuru, the native of the actor. Vishnuvardhan, who has acted in additional than 200 movies, has followers throughout the state.

After the actor’s demise, his followers and relations pressed the state authorities to assemble a memorial at Abhiman studio on Uttaralli street in Bengaluru, the place the actor was cremated. However owing to land litigation, the state authorities headed by former chief minister Siddaramaiah finalised three acres of land at Halalu village in 2016. The development was delayed as farmers opposed the memorial and appealed to the court docket. The Mysuru court docket dismissed the attraction, and the then chief minister B S Yeddyurappa laid the inspiration stone for the memorial on September 15, 2020.

The memorial was constructed at an estimated value of ₹11 crores and has an auditorium, a statue of the actor, a canteen, a gallery and different services. The auditorium has the power to stage performs and exhibit cinemas as nicely.

“Even after an extended wait of 13 years, the inaugural ceremony of the memorial was not held correctly,” Dr Vishnu Sena Samithi state unit president V Srinivas informed HT.

The Vishnu statue was constructed in 10 days by a crew of 4 beneath the management of well-known sculptor Arun Yogiraj, a local of Mysuru. The 6-foot-tall statue prices ₹11 lakhs, and 7 tons of Krishnastone has been used for its development. After the carving, the statue weighs 1.5 tons.

“This statue has the facility to resist hearth, acid, wind, solar and water. We now have carved the statue of Vishnu in ten days,” sculptor Arun Yogiraj informed HT. “It’s a very comfortable occasion for the Kannada individuals. I’m a fan of Dr Vishnuvardhan. I’m very comfortable,” Yogiraj added.

Hundreds of Vishnu followers from Bengaluru thronged Halalu village on Sunday for the inauguration. The followers additionally sloganeered to bestow the Karnataka Ratna award on Vishnuvardhan.
