Tata Group-owned Air India has agreed to purchase 250 jets from Airbus, a part of an enormous deal for 470 planes, underlining the surging demand for air journey fueled by the nation’s swelling center class.

The digital occasion was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, signalling the political and financial significance of a deal involving India’s former flag bearer.
