First US official visits China since Blinken scrapped trip | World News

A US official visited China final week, the State Division confirmed Tuesday, marking a low-key return to dialogue after Secretary of State Antony Blinken abruptly canceled a visit almost two months in the past.

Rick Waters, who heads the State Division’s new so-called “China Home” that supervises US coverage towards Beijing, traveled to Beijing in addition to Shanghai and Hong Kong, division spokesman Vedant Patel instructed reporters.
