Karnataka Police arrested a social activist Saturday for allegedly posting a derogatory photograph on social media, shortly drawing criticism from activists in Mangaluru for the early-morning motion.

In accordance with officers, Sunil Bajilakeri was arrested from his residence in Mangaluru’s Bajpe over a latest social media put up wherein he wrote, “When is the newborn bathe for the cheetahs from Namibia?” and shared an image of a pregnant girl with the face of a leopard. The arrest comes within the wake of a police grievance filed by a girl who claimed the put up was an insult to pregnant ladies and Indian tradition.

A staunch critic of the BJP authorities on the Centre and state, he lately organised a programme referred to as ‘Hindutvadinda Bandhuthvadedege (From Hindutva to human relationships)’ which had irked some BJP leaders within the coastal Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

Condemning the arrest, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) Karnataka president Muneer Katipalla sought Bajilakeri’s launch. “When the widespread public goes to the cyber police with complaints, they’re made to sit down for hours. An FIR is registered in opposition to Sunil with none proof. Often, such arrests are accomplished in felony instances. Which state is that this Mr Bommai,” Katipalla requested the Chief Minister.

“The put up he had put up was only a motive, but it surely was extra of a threatening message to the widespread public to not communicate in opposition to the folks in energy. All of us have to condemn this arrest,” he added.
