JD(S) chief and former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday criticised the eleventh report of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language and mentioned the panel was conspiring to impose Hindi and remodel the nation into “Hindistan”.

“Most of the suggestions seem to tear aside and destroy India’s federal construction. The target of the Amit Shah-led panel is to destroy the federal system with their ‘one nation, one faith and one language’ coverage,” the JD(S) chief tweeted.

Kumaraswamy has been vocal in opposition to makes an attempt at “Hindi imposition” and not too long ago wrote to the central authorities in opposition to conducting Workers Choice Fee exams solely in English and Hindi.

In a sequence of tweets in Kannada, he wrote that the insurance policies on language pursued by the central authorities had been divisive and will sow variations amongst numerous states. The report must be withdrawn instantly, he added.

“The suggestions of the report shouldn’t be allowed to be applied at any value. All of the states, particularly the southern states, must be united in opposing this,” he mentioned, including that Hindi, like others, was simply one of many languages within the nation.

If (the BJP) pursues the politics of Hindi imposition, India will undergo the results of a language disaster,” Kumaraswamy warned in a tweet. “India doesn’t imply simply Hindu (and) Hindi. It belongs to us all,” he added.
