After student’s death in accident, Bangalore University proposes flyover to control vehicular movement on campus

Following a sequence of highway accidents and the dying of a scholar after a state-run bus ran over her on the Bangalore College (BU) campus, the institute’s vice-chancellor Prof Dr Jayakara SM has proposed a flyover and a compound wall to limit vehicular motion.

Dr Jayakara SM instructed indianexpress.com {that a} technical group, consisting of civil engineering college students of the college, is engaged on a “definitive motion plan” to construct a flyover that may ease site visitors inside the campus. “A flyover between Jnana Bharati Metro station to Ullal exit gate is being deliberate as a result of that is the place heavy vehicular motion is noticed,” he stated.

“A compound wall throughout a number of the predominant roads bordering the campus may even be constructed to limit vehicular motion. The vice-chancellor will maintain a syndicate assembly Monday to debate the motion plan to regulate vehicular motion on the campus.

On October 12, after a gathering with Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Company (BMTC) and police officers, the college determined to step up safety measures and implement strict site visitors laws on the campus. Extra barricades and scientific humps have been put in to regulate the pace restrict of the autos. The Nagarbhavi and Mariyappanpalya gates are additionally being closed from 10 pm to five am. In the meantime, localities argued that any plan to limit vehicular motion on the campus will hinder the motion of important items and medical emergencies.

On October 10, Shilpa Shree, 23, was run over by a BMTC bus on the varsity’s Jnana Bharati campus. The postgraduate scholar of arithmetic was making an attempt to board a BMTC bus when the accident occurred. She was admitted to Fortis Hospital at Bannerghatta highway the place she died on October 23. A local of Bangarpet within the Kolar district, Shilpa stayed on the college hostel.
