As 1000’s of scholars at Denver Public Faculties (DPS) returned to class Monday, a lot of them sat in school rooms all day with none air-con.

It’s a difficulty Denver7 has been following for years, and one the district continues to handle.

“To have the ability to train and be taught in a room that was 95, or the mid-90s, it was not unusual right here in any respect,” stated Mia Martinez Lopez, West Excessive Faculty’s principal. “It was on daily basis that I might test the temperature and simply be gearing up for understanding that we might be having to make completely different plans to maneuver children out of school rooms that had been too scorching.”

As college students at West begin a brand new college yr, they’re lastly discovering some much-needed reduction.

West was certainly one of 11 colleges that had air-con put in over the summer season. DPS officers instructed Denver7 Monday 13 extra colleges can have air-con put in of their buildings over the following yr. It’s all because of a $795 million bond voters permitted in 2020.
