Assam flood situation remains grim: Death toll 12, Modi dials Himanta | India News

The flood state of affairs in Assam continued to stay grim on Tuesday affecting  2.57 lakh individuals in 21 districts, with the demise toll rising to 12 within the state.

As of Tuesday evening, six individuals had misplaced their lives in flood-related incidents throughout the state previously 24 hours. The deaths, together with that of 1 youngster, have been reported from Hailakandi, Sribhumi, Morigaon, Cachar, Sonitpur and Tinsukia districts.

Over 94,000 individuals have been affected within the Barak Valley in Sribhumi district alone.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the Barak Valley on Tuesday and the reduction camps housing affected individuals in its principal city Silchar.

CM Sarma instructed the reporters that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had known as earlier within the day to investigate in regards to the state of affairs within the state.

Whereas the numbers of these affected by the floods continues to swell, the IMD has warned of continued heavy to very heavy rainfall over Northeastern states, together with Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, till June 5, with a lower in depth after that.
