At centre of row over admission to Kashmiri doctor, Coimbatore hospital enforced ‘grooming rules’ late last year | India News

Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH), which has been within the information for asking a Kashmiri physician to trim his beard to take admission, has a set of “grooming guidelines” that postgraduate pupil docs should observe.

PG docs The Indian Categorical spoke to stated the school enforces these guidelines strictly and officers confront those that don’t comply.

The round additionally says that “non secular dressing” just isn’t allowed contained in the hospital. “We respect all religions,” the round reads. The Kashmiri physician, Zubair Ahmed, has accused the school of forcing him to “give up his tremendous speciality seat”. The physician, who was allotted a seat on the nephrology division of the hospital after he cleared the NEET-SS, was allegedly instructed by the hospital administration that he must both shave or trim his beard if he had been to take admission.

The physician refused, however agreed to put on a masks to “conceal his beard”. He ultimately determined to forgo the seat on the hospital.

When contacted for remark, a hospital spokesperson instructed The Indian Categorical, “We ask docs to observe private hygiene and grooming as a result of they need to cope with sufferers with low immunity. Aside from affected person care, now we have no different motive behind imposing the grooming code.”
