Child turtles made it safely to the ocean after they had been dug out of a nest on a seaside in Mississippi.
In January 2023, the Institute for Marine Mammal Research (IMMS) discovered a sea turtle nest in Cross Christian, a uncommon incidence on the artifical seaside.
In an excavation following the hatching course of, IMMS employees found 84 eggs, with 12 dwell hatchlings.
“The estimates for survival for a hatchling are tremendous low. It is about one in a thousand hatchlings will make it to an grownup. That is as a result of turtles must survive to that maturity age, normally between 15 to twenty, typically even 30 years earlier than they begin laying eggs,” IMMS Stranding Coordinator Theresa Madrigal stated.
