BBMP engineers’ wages to be withheld if no progress in encroachment removal: HC | Bengaluru

The Karnataka Excessive Courtroom has warned the civic physique Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) that if the encroachments on Rajakaluves (storm water drains) underneath its jurisdiction shouldn’t be cleared, an acceptable order must be issued in opposition to its Chief Commissioner.

A division bench headed by Performing Chief Justice Alok Aradhe on Friday heard a public curiosity litigation (PIL) filed by 4 individuals relating to the filling of potholes on roads underneath the jurisdiction of BBMP.

Through the listening to, the advocate for BBMP submitted an action-taken report claiming that 10 encroachments have been cleared from September 19, 2022 until date. One other 592 encroachments on storm water drains must be cleared, the courtroom was knowledgeable.

In the identical report, it was claimed that “221 potholes on main roads within the metropolis have been crammed utilizing sizzling combine”. He submitted that the roads of Mahadevpur zone (324 km) are being re-asphalted and work alongside 427 km of roads has began. After recording the submission, the bench stated the report doesn’t look passable.

It warned that if BBMP doesn’t present progress on this matter, the civic physique will likely be ordered to withhold the wages of engineers. The work of filling potholes can be not sufficient, the courtroom stated including motorists are put to inconvenience. The courtroom then adjourned the matter to October 27.
