Bengaluru: Girl killed, boy’s arm severed as speeding bike hits crash barrier in Yelahanka

An 18-year-old boy’s birthday celebration together with his pal ended tragically on Tuesday after the sports activities bike they had been using hit a crash barrier on Kempegowda Worldwide Airport Street in Bengaluru’s Yelahanka, killing his pal and leaving him critically injured with a severed arm.

The police recognized the deceased as Saheba A Sahera, a resident of Chinnappa Backyard, and the boy as Jishan Ayaz, a resident of R T Nagar. Whereas Ayaz had discontinued his research and was serving to his father run a fuel range service centre, Sahera was a scholar at a non-public school in Hebbal.

In accordance with police sources, the incident occurred round 1.30 pm on Tuesday when Ayaz and Sahera had been using in the direction of Devanahalli to rejoice his birthday. Ayaz had borrowed a KTM Duke bike from his pal, and in accordance with a police officer, he was using it at a pace of about 120 km per hour when he misplaced stability, brushed the divider and hit the crash barrier. Whereas Ayaz’s proper arm was severed within the impression and fell 3 toes away, Sahera died on the spot.

Whereas Ayaz was carrying a helmet, it’s nonetheless unclear if Sahera was. Passers-by shifted each to Yelahanka authorities hospital.

In accordance with Deputy Commissioner of Police (Visitors North) S Savitha, the accident occurred due to “over-speeding and negligent using”.

The police stated that Ayaz is essential and medical doctors are making all efforts to reattach the severed limb.

Based mostly on a grievance filed by Sahera’s father, a case has been registered towards Ayaz, and the Nationwide Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for incomplete crash barrier work. The Bengaluru visitors police have lodged a case underneath sections 279 (rash and negligent driving), 337 (inflicting damage by act endangering life or private security of others) and 304A (inflicting dying as a result of negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
