Bengaluru road rage case: Karnataka HC directs police not to arrest IAF officer, asks petitioner to cooperate with probe | Bangalore News

The Karnataka Excessive Courtroom has directed the Bengaluru police to not take coercive motion towards an Indian Air Drive (IAF) Wing Commander who has been accused of making an attempt to homicide a name centre worker following a street rage incident in East Bengaluru on April 21.

The courtroom on Thursday restrained the Bengaluru police from arresting Wg Cdr Shiladitya Bose, who’s hooked up to the Defence Analysis and Growth Organisation (DRDO) in Bengaluru, in a case of assault filed by name centre employee Vikas Kumar within the wake of a street rage incident close to Outdated Madras Street.

“Respondent No.1 shall not take any coercive motion and shall not summon the petitioner with out following due process of regulation. The petitioner shall cooperate with the investigation,” a single-judge bench of the excessive courtroom stated in its order. The IAF officer had initially claimed on social media that he was attacked for not talking within the native Kannada language. After CCTV footage revealed that he was not on the receiving finish of the violence, pro-Kannada teams got here out in help of the native name centre worker and demanded the arrest of the IAF officer.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah additionally directed the Bengaluru Metropolis police to take stringent motion within the matter. “I’ve instructed the Commissioner of Police to take applicable authorized motion towards the people concerned, regardless of their place or rank. The street rage incident occurred on the morning of April 21 when a automobile pushed by the IAF officer’s spouse, Squadron Chief Madhumita Dutta, was concerned in a minor visitors incident with the bike of the decision centre employee Vikas Kumar, 27. Based mostly on a grievance filed by Sq Ldr Dutta, the Bengaluru police registered a case of assault on her husband, and arrested Kumar that night. The grievance stated the IAF officer was attacked on the grounds that he didn’t communicate Kannada.

A counter-complaint of assault and try to homicide was filed by Kumar towards the IAF officer, and a First Info Report (FIR) was registered on Monday night time. Kumar’s grievance stated Wg Cdr Bose claimed to be within the Air Drive and warned him towards choosing a combat.

CCTV footage from the positioning of the incident, accessed by the native police, indicated that the IAF officer thrashed Kumar on the street and the sidewalk after the alleged street rage incident.

The workplace of the Defence PRO in Bengaluru described the incident as “unlucky” and acknowledged that the IAF was cooperating with authorities. “The lAF is helping the native authorities in investigating and following up the case to its lawful decision,” stated the assertion issued on April 22.
