Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday triggered a political controversy after he likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “Ravan” throughout a rally in poll-bound Gujarat.
Whereas the BJP slammed Kharge’s remarks as an “insult” to each Gujarati, the Congress stated the social gathering chief was being attacked for being a Dalit.
Taking a swipe at Modi at a rally in Ahmedabad’s Behrampura space on Monday evening, Kharge stated the Prime Minister asks folks to vote “ his face” in all elections. “What number of instances do now we have to see your face… Do you may have 100 heads like Ravan,” he stated.
Taking exception to the remarks, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra requested voters in Gujarat to do “100% voting for the son of the soil” Modi to take “revenge” in a democratic method for the “insult”.
The BJP’s IT division head, Amit Malviya, tweeted: “Unable to take the warmth of Gujarat election, pushed to the perimeter… Kharge loses management over his phrases, calls PM Modi ‘Ravan’.”
Congress’s media division head Pawan Khera hit again at Malviya, asking “why can’t you digest the truth that a Dalit who has labored his method up is the elected president of the Congress”.
“Calling him fringe reveals what you and your social gathering thinks of Dalits,” he stated in a tweet.
