The Bengaluru police on Friday registered a case of abetment of suicide in opposition to unidentified folks following the latest demise of a Kodagu BJP employee.
The deceased, recognized as Okay S Somaiah, 35, allegedly died by suicide in Bengaluru on Thursday.
The First Data Report (FIR) was registered on the Hennar police station in east Bengaluru based mostly on a grievance by Okay S Jeevan, the elder brother of the BJP employee.
The FIR got here within the wake of protests by BJP employees in Bengaluru, blaming two Kodagu Congress MLAs and one in all their aides for the demise.
Even the deceased BJP employee’s brother has alleged in his grievance that his youthful brother was upset after an aide of Virajpet Congress MLA Ponnanna filed a police grievance in opposition to him in February 2024 over an alleged defamatory put up.
The FIR was filed in opposition to Somaiah on account of him being the admin of the social media group the place the put up was shared. In the meantime, BJP Chief of Opposition R Ashok and Chalavady Narayanswamy met D Devaraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), on Friday night, demanding that the FIR title Ponnanna, the authorized advisor to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Reacting to the BJP’s demand, MLA Ponnanna stated, “Somaiah might have belonged to a different celebration, however he was a human being, and his demise is a reason behind disappointment. The BJP is indulging in politics over the demise of a human being.”
“The police have registered an FIR and can conduct investigations,” he added.
Earlier within the day, the BJP held protests in Bengaluru after a purported closing WhatsApp message of Somaiah was shared extensively on social media.
The message attributed to the deceased BJP employee acknowledged that he had not meant to offend anybody.

“Ask anybody in that group, not even one in all my messages was meant to offend anybody. Some political opponents conspired and lodged an FIR in opposition to me for elevating questions on growth,” the message acknowledged.
