BJP submits petition to revoke suspension of 18 MLAs from Karnataka Assembly | Bangalore News

A delegation of BJP legislators beneath Chief of Opposition R Ashok petitioned Speaker U T Khader to withdraw the suspension order of 18 BJP MLAs on Monday.

The legislators have been suspended on the final day of the Finances session on March 21 because the Karnataka Meeting witnessed a pandemonium over allegations of honey-trapping legislators, together with ministers within the state authorities, other than the row over the passage of a laws which prolonged reservation advantages to Muslims in authorities tenders beneath Rs 2 crore.

The Speaker is learnt to have assured the Opposition legislators that he would take a name on revoking the order in session with the state authorities.

The 18 legislators have been suspended for six months for climbing as much as the Speaker’s chair, tearing copies of varied Payments, and hurling them at him. The suspension was beneath Rule 348 of the Guidelines of Process and Conduct of Enterprise within the Karnataka Legislative Meeting.

Talking to reporters after the assembly, Ashok stated that the incident ought to have remained contained in the partitions of the Meeting, and suspending the legislators for six months was not proper. “We have now submitted a petition saying that the intention was to not disrespect the Speaker,” he added.

Through the assembly, Ashok stated that Khader assured him that he would talk about the suspension with the Division of Legislation and Parliamentary Affairs and would inform the Opposition about his resolution quickly. “Our intention is to make sure the sleek functioning of the Legislative Meeting,” Ashok added.

On April 9, the 18 suspended MLAs had met the Speaker and urged him to withdraw his resolution that will maintain them out of the Meeting until September. This might imply that they won’t doubtless be a part of the Monsoon session of the legislature, until the suspension is revoked.

The 18 suspended MLAs embody Doddanagowda Patil, Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, Byrathi Basavraj, B Suresh Gowda, Umanath Kotyan, C Okay Ramamurthy, Dheeraj Muniraju, Muniratna, S R Vishwanath, Dr Bharath Shetty, Dr Chandru Lamani, Basavaraj Mattimudu, Shailendra Beldale, Sharanu Salagar, Harish B P, Channabasappa, and Yashpal Suvarna.
