
A wildfire that sparked close to a Western Slope coal mine closed a state freeway between Meeker and Craig, officers stated Friday.
Moffat County fireplace crews have been alerted to a brush fireplace burning close to the Colowyo Mine off of Colorado 13 at 2:32 p.m., the sheriff’s workplace stated in an alert. The fireplace is a couple of mile west of the coal mine’s guard shack close to the freeway and County Highway 17.
Colorado 13 is closed in each instructions due to the hearth, in keeping with the Colorado Division of Transportation. The freeway is closed between 9 Mile Hole and County Highway 180, 14 miles north of Meeker.
The Bureau of Land Administration’s fireplace dashboard exhibits the hearth is estimated at 100 acres and the trigger is unknown. Firefighters from the Moffat County Sheriff’s Workplace, BLM and Craig are preventing the hearth.
