The Border Safety Power jawan, who was held by Pakistan after he crossed the Worldwide Border, was returned to India Wednesday.

“At the moment BSF Jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had been within the custody of Pakistan Rangers since 23 April 2025, was handed over to India at about 1030 hours by means of the Joint Examine Publish Attari, Amritsar. The handover was performed peacefully and in accordance with established protocols,” an announcement launched by the BSF mentioned.

Purnam Shaw, 40, was detained by Pakistan Rangers after he inadvertently crossed the worldwide border in Punjab’s Ferozepur district on April 23, a day after terrorists killed 26 vacationers in Pahalgam in Kashmir.

This comes days after India and Pakistan introduced a ceasefire on Saturday after buying and selling hearth on the border for days since India launched Operation Sindoor, placing “terror websites” in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
