The Election Fee on Saturday introduced that the bypoll for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat that fell vacant upon the demise of Samajwadi Get together chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in October can be held on December 5.
The EC additionally introduced bypolls to 5 Meeting seats — Padampur in Odisha, Sardarshahar in Rajasthan, Kurhani in Bihar, Bhanupratappur in Chhattisgarh and Rampur in Uttar Pradesh — on December 5. The Rampur seat fell vacant on October 28 after then-Samajwadi Get together MLA Azam Khan was convicted in a hate speech case and sentenced to 3 years in jail.
The bypolls will coincide with section two of polling within the Gujarat elections. Counting for the six bypolls can be held on December 8, the identical day as for the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Meeting elections.
