The Union Cupboard on Wednesday permitted two line doubling tasks of the Indian Railways, particularly, the 133-km Koderma-Barkakana Doubling and the 185-km Ballari-Chikjajur Doubling, which cowl a complete of seven districts in Jharkhand, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The whole estimated price of the tasks is Rs 6,405 crore.
Koderma-Barkakana line doubling undertaking
The Koderma-Barkakana line passes by a significant coal producing space of Jharkhand. Together with this, it serves because the shortest rail hyperlink between Patna and Ranchi. The price of doubling of the road is Rs 2,063 crore.
In line with the Ministry of Railways, line doubling will facilitate a further cargo of 30.4 million tonnes (mt). It would join 4 districts of Jharkhand, particularly, Koderma, Chatra, Hazaribagh and Ramgarh.
The undertaking might be difficult from an engineering standpoint since it is going to contain the development of 17 main bridges, 180 minor bridges, 42 street over bridges (ROBs) and 13 street beneath bridges (RUBs). The undertaking will present connectivity to over 900 villages, the Indian Railways stated.
Ballari-Chikjajur line doubling undertaking
The second undertaking Ballari-Chikjajur line crosses Ballari and Chitradurga districts of Karnataka and Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The whole price of the undertaking is Rs 3,342 crore.
In line with the Indian Railways, the doubling of the rail line will facilitate the motion of extra cargo of 18.9 mt. It would cater to move of iron ore, coking coal, completed metal, fertilisers, foodgrains, and petroleum merchandise, amongst different gadgets.
The 185-km undertaking will contain the development of 19 stations, 29 main bridges, 230 minor bridges, 21 ROBs and 85 RUBs. The road will join over 400 villages on the stretch.

These two tasks collectively will improve the prevailing community of Indian Railways by about 318 km and extra freight site visitors of 49 mt every year.
