Cabinet oks Rs 1,600-cr scheme to modernise irrigation network | India News

The Union Cupboard authorised the Modernization of Command Space Improvement and Water Administration (M-CADWM) as a sub-scheme of the PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) for the 2025-26 interval on Wednesday with an preliminary outlay of `1,600 crore.

Union I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned about 80,000 farmers will probably be included in 78 pilot tasks below the brand new initiative.

“It will improve the Water Use Effectivity (WUE) on the farm stage, improve agriculture manufacturing and productiveness; and thereby improve the revenue of farmers,” it mentioned.

“The tasks will probably be made sustainable by Irrigation Administration Switch to the Water Person Society for administration of irrigation belongings. The Water Person Societies will probably be given handholding help for linking them with present Financial Entities like FPO (Farmer Producer Organisations) or PACS (Major Agricultural Cooperative Societies) for 5 years. The youth will even be drawn to farming, to undertake the fashionable methodology of irrigation,” the assertion mentioned.

“The preliminary approval is for taking on pilot tasks throughout numerous agroclimatic zones by problem funding to the states.
