Can’t jail a person indefinitely for forwarding video that may hurt religious sentiments: Madhya Pradesh HC | India News

Observing that forwarding a video “which can damage non secular sentiments” doesn’t imply an individual can indefinitely be stored in jail, the Madhya Pradesh Excessive Courtroom has granted bail to Dr Nasheem Bano, a visitor school on the Authorities Mannequin Faculty in Dindori, who was arrested for allegedly circulating WhatsApp messages and a video on the Pahalgam terror assault.

Dr Bano was arrested on April 28, following a grievance filed by one Deependra Jogi at Dindori police station. The FIR was filed underneath Sections 196, 299, and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

It alleged that the professor had circulated sure posts in a WhatsApp group that have been meant to outrage the non secular emotions of a group, together with a video titled ‘Naya Ravan’.

Senior advocate Manish Datt, showing with advocate Eshaan Datt for Dr Bano, argued that she is an informed lady with no intention to harm the non secular sentiments of any group.

Authorities advocate Ravindra Shukla opposed the bail, claiming that the applicant had intentionally forwarded WhatsApp messages and the video to harm non secular sentiments. Nevertheless, he submitted that no different crimes have been recorded in opposition to the professor.

Justice Singh, after listening to either side and reviewing the case diary, deemed it applicable to grant bail contemplating the details and circumstances.
