CEC Rajiv Kumar pays rich tribute to India’s first voter at his Himachal village

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Saturday visited the Himachal residence of India’s first voter Shyam Saran Negi, who died on the age of 106, and paid wealthy tributes to him.

“The actual tribute to Shyam Saran Negi can be for all residents to participate in voting and strengthen democracy within the nation,” stated Kumar, who flew in from Delhi and reached the residence of the EC’s model ambassador in Kalpa in Kinnaur district, over 200 km from right here.

The CEC stated Negi continued to vote since 1951 and had solid his poll on November 2 additionally, fulfilling his obligation by taking the power of voting from residence.

This devotion to obligation must be an instance for the younger voters, he stated and urged all eligible folks in Himachal Pradesh to vote within the November 12 meeting election.

“The youth must also come ahead and each time the subsequent election of their space comes …That is what can be a real and true sharandhali to honourable Shyam Saran ji,” Kumar stated after paying floral tributes.

“From Kalpa, Kinnaur, ECI salutes the 1.8cr 80 voters and over 2.5 lakh 100 voters of India for continued and lively participation in strengthening democracy,” Rajiv Kumar stated on his Twitter deal with.

“Their continued assist and inspiration make us realise our duty for conducting free, truthful and clear elections,” he stated.

Three days after casting his vote for the thirty fourth time, Negi died on Saturday at his residence in Kalpa.

Negi’s final vote was on November 2 for the Himachal Pradesh meeting polls by way of postal poll. He was 31 when India gained its Independence.
