Communal clash in Savli town of Gujarat over displaying religions flag; 36 held

Two teams clashed and hurled stones at one another over placing up a non secular flag in Savli city in Gujarat’s Vadodara district, a police official stated on Monday, including 36 folks have been arrested.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening after a bunch of individuals objected to members of one other neighborhood attempting to place up a non secular flag alongside their flag on an electrical energy pole in Dhamiji ka Dera locality, a Savli police station official stated.

“The matter escalated and each the communities began hurling stones at one another. No one was injured however a automobile and a store had been broken by rioters,” stated Savli police station sub-inspector, AR Mahida.

Cross First Data Reviews (FIRs) had been lodged by each the teams on late Saturday evening, following which a case was registered for rioting, illegal meeting, rash act endangering human life and many others of the Indian Penal Code towards 43 folks, Mahida stated.

A complete of 36 folks from each communities have been arrested up to now, he stated.

Police safety has been beefed up within the communally delicate space and the state of affairs is underneath management, he added.
