Congress tries its hand at Ramayan politics in Bharat Jodo video

New Delhi: Whereas the Dussehra celebrations might need ended a fortnight in the past with Raavan effigies burning throughout India, the Congress is now making forays into “Ramayan politics”. 

The social gathering posted a minute-long video on its official YouTube channel Friday, attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and evaluating him to Raavan.

The video begins with the road Iss desh ki politics ko tumhari zaroorat hai (‘This nation’s politics wants you’) and a smiling Rahul Gandhi main the Bharat Jodo Yatra. On Monday, Congress chief and Rajasthan minister Parsadi Lal Meena likened Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Yatra to Lord Ram’s journey from Ayodhya to Lanka. “Rahul Gandhi’s padayatra might be historic. Lord Ram, too, had gone from Ayodhya to Sri Lanka on foot. Rahul Gandhi is strolling much more than that, from Kanyakumari to Kashmir,” Meena stated. 

Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole backed Meena in evaluating the journeys, however stated that it’s “a coincidence that each Lord Ram and Rahul Gandhi’s names start with R”. He added that Lord Ram and Rahul couldn’t be in contrast. “God is God and Rahul Gandhi is a human being.”

A political row broke out after Patole’s remarks, with BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia taking a shot on the Congress on Twitter, saying, “Raavan additionally begins with R”.
