Copenhagen Airport reopens after drone sightings

Operations at Copenhagen Airport will resume after flights had been suspended for a number of hours following a drone sighting.

Between two to a few giant drones had been seen flying within the space round Copenhagen Airport, in accordance with authorities.

Take-offs and landings on the airport had been suspended for about 4 hours.

In an announcement, the airport warned of ongoing delays and cancellations, and urged passengers to verify the standing of their flight with their airways.

A spokesperson for Copenhagen Airport confirmed that the airspace over the airport was closed at round round 20:30 native time (19:30 BST) attributable to unidentified drones.

“No plane can take off or land on the airport, and in consequence, a number of flights are being diverted to different airports,” they mentioned in an announcement.

“Police are investigating the matter and we presently should timeline for reopening.”

Flight-tracking web site Flightradar24 reported that at the very least 35 flights certain for Copenhagen had been diverted because of the airport’s closure.

A drone was additionally noticed close to Oslo Airport on Monday night, Norwegian police confirmed to native media outlet nrk.

A police spokesperson informed nrk that they’ve “taken measures” to find the drone, and had moved all air site visitors to a single runway for “security causes”.
