Routes throughout Colorado’s Jap Plains remained closed Saturday morning after a formidable winter storm dropped a number of ft of snow on the state.
Whereas Denver freeways and all of Interstate 25 had reopened as of 10:45 a.m., Interstate 70 stays closed east of E-470, together with quite a few state and federal highways east of I-25.
Rural counties have been among the many areas hardest hit by the storm — in Lincoln County, search-and-rescue operations have been ongoing Saturday morning, with a number of rescuers and motorists stranded.
Capt. Michael Yowell of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Workplace warned drivers to respect freeway closures and never endanger themselves and others by taking their possibilities on county roads.
“Once you come to a street closure gate, that’s dangerous getting worse,” he mentioned. “Don’t attempt to beat it.”
A hazardous climate outlook stays in impact for northeast and north-central Colorado, with the Nationwide Climate Service urging warning amongst drivers and advising them to respect ongoing street closures.
