Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and his son and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday congratulated veteran Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on getting elected because the Congress president.
The JD(S) first household greeted Kharge and wished him a hit. “I heartily congratulate my pal and colleague of many many years, Mallikarjun @kharge, on being elected @INCIndia President. It is a proud and historic second for the Congress and in addition Karnataka. Could God give him the power to take his occasion to new heights throughout India,” Gowda tweeted. “Congratulations to Mr @kharge, a senior politician of the state, veteran Congress chief, who has been elected AICC President. Mr Kharge has an unlimited political expertise. His unwavering loyalty to the occasion has introduced him to this excessive workplace. I want that his occasion will profit from Mr Kharge,” Kumaraswamy mentioned in his tweet.
The Congress on Wednesday elected Kharge as its president, the primary non-Gandhi to move the occasion in 24 years. A staunch Gandhi household loyalist from Karnataka, the 80-year-old chief defeated Shashi Tharoor in an electoral contest by bagging practically 84 per cent of votes within the occasion presidential election. Kharge bought 7,897 votes and Tharoor 1,072 votes, whereas 416 votes have been declared invalid, Congress’ central election authority chairman Madhusudan Mistry mentioned at a press convention on the AICC headquarters in New Delhi.
