Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Growth Minister D Ok Shivakumar stated Tuesday {that a} Detailed Challenge Report (DPR) is being ready to white-top 500 km of metropolis roads at an estimated value of Rs 4,000 crore.

Talking at an occasion in Bengaluru’s Gandhinagar constituency, he stated that white-topping would enhance the lifespan of roads by 25-30 years. “Already, white-topping works are being carried out alongside 148 km. For the event of 83 roads, Rs 1,800 crore is being spent,” he stated.

Aside from this, black-topping works are being taken up alongside 182 roads spanning round 350 km at a value of Rs 695 crore, Shivakumar added. Lately, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah sanctioned Rs 1,100 crore to asphalt 550 km of roads within the metropolis, he stated.

Commenting on the works carried out to patch up potholes within the metropolis, he stated that round 10,000 potholes had been stuffed on this method. “Through the tenure of Basavaraj Bommai as CM, the federal government had submitted an affidavit earlier than the (excessive) court docket that there have been 20,000 potholes within the metropolis. The court docket was monitoring the works,” he stated.
