In 2023, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden opened an ongoing investigation into monetary dealings between Black and Epstein.
In accordance with Wyden, “The Dechert report discovered Black paid Epstein, who was neither a licensed tax lawyer nor a licensed public accountant, a complete of $158 million in a number of installments between 2012 and 2017.

“Flagging and detecting Mr. Epstein’s suspicious withdrawals could effectively have stopped his crimes years earlier and saved numerous women and girls from a fateful interplay with the criminals Mr. Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and their co-conspirators.”
