BRUSSELS, Feb 3 (Reuters) – EU antitrust regulators have paused their investigation into Broadcom’s (AVGO.O) $61 billion bid for cloud computing firm VMware (VMW.N) whereas ready for the U.S. chipmaker to supply requested information, the European Fee stated on Friday.
The European Union competitors watchdog stated it stopped the clock on its investigation on Jan. 31, efficient Jan. 24.
“This process in merger investigations is activated if the events fail to supply, in a well timed trend, an necessary piece of data that the Fee has requested from them,” a Fee spokesperson stated.
“As soon as the lacking data is provided by the events, the clock is re-started and the deadline for the Fee’s resolution is then adjusted accordingly.”
Broadcom’s transfer to diversify into enterprise software program comes as regulators worldwide ramp up scrutiny of offers by Massive Tech.
