Shailendra Singh, a former deputy superintendent of police who had invoked the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) towards gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari in January 2004, on Friday recalled how he was made to resign inside 15 days allegedly by the then Mulayam Singh Yadav authorities.
A day after the demise of Mukhtar Ansari, a five-time MLA, Shailendra Singh informed information company ANI that it was he who had first recovered a light-weight machine gun from the gangster-turned-politician’s possession.
“20 years in the past, in 2004, Mukhtar Ansari’s empire was at its peak. He (Mukhtar Ansari) would transfer round in open jeeps in areas the place curfew was imposed. That point, I recovered an LMG.
