Two Suncor staff have been transported to a hospital with burns after a fireplace broke out on the Adams County oil refinery.
The hearth began about 11 a.m. due to some sort of vapor launch and was put out rapidly, mentioned South Adams County Hearth Division Chief Kevin Vincel.
The severity of the workers’ accidents is unclear, Vincel mentioned.
Suncor introduced in an emergency alert at 11:27 a.m. Saturday that refinery personnel are “responding to an incident.”
“Whereas you could have heard an alarm or might even see smoke, no instant motion is required,” Suncor officers mentioned.
Firm officers couldn’t instantly be reached Saturday.
The incident comes a day after state regulators mentioned Suncor had spewed dangerous pollution into the environment Wednesday evening after excessive chilly triggered a shutdown throughout the Commerce Metropolis plant’s operations.
State officers are assessing the potential public well being dangers.
