In what could be referred to as as the largest information theft, the Cyberabad Police in Hyderabad has stated it arrested an individual who was allegedly concerned in stealing, holding and promoting private and confidential information of 66.9 crore people and organisations belonging to 24 states and eight metropolitan cities.
Vinay Bhardwaj, the police stated, was discovered possessing information of scholars of edu-tech organisations reminiscent of Byjus and Vedantu and in addition holds client/ buyer information of main organisations like GST, highway transport organisations of varied states, main e-commerce portals, social media platforms and fintech firms.
The accused held buyer information of main organisations like GST (Pan India), RTO (Pan India), Amazon, Netflix, Youtube, Paytm, Phonepe, Massive Basket, BookMyShow, Instagram, Zomato, Coverage Bazar, Upstox, and so on.
“The accused who was arrested on Friday was discovered promoting private and confidential information of about 66.9 crore people and organisations maintained in 104 classes,” Cyberabad Police stated.
