Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Union Ministry of Dwelling Affairs has introduced the implementation of mock drills throughout 244 districts nationally at the moment, on Wednesday, Could 7, to reinforce civil defence preparedness.
These drills, codenamed ‘Operation Abhyas’, can be held throughout the nation, following a tragic terror assault on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 people, prompting intensified safety measures all through the nation.

State governments and Union Territories have been directed to activate air raid warning sirens, implement blackout protocols in designated areas, and educate civilians, together with college students, on security measures to undertake throughout potential aerial or floor assaults.
State authorities officers stated Nationwide Cadet Corps (NCC), Nationwide Service Scheme (NSS), and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) volunteers, together with faculty and faculty college students, will take part within the mock drill.
