Former New York Instances opinion author Weiss, 41, was introduced in by Donald Trump supporter and new Chairman and CEO of Paramount, David Ellison, to jolt the community information division out of its left-leaning reporting.
She’s now charged with “aggressively” eliminating the “woke” mainstays in favor of bringing stability again to the ratings-challenged reveals that chased away reasonable and Republican viewers.
“We imagine nearly all of the nation longs for information that’s balanced and fact-based, and we would like CBS to be their residence,” Ellison said in her October 6 hiring announcement, calling The Free Press founder a “confirmed champion of unbiased, principled journalism.”
Weiss reportedly referred to as a gathering of the 60 Minutes employees shortly after her hiring and bluntly requested, “Why does the nation suppose you’re biased?” leaving the room in shocked silence.
In August, CBS and Paramount agreed to pay Trump, 79, a whopping $16million to settle a lawsuit through which the president claimed “misleading conduct” by the longtime information journal, alleging it edited an interview along with his 2024 marketing campaign opponent, Kamala Harris, to make her responses appear extra intelligible.
