A Glenwood Springs police officer shot and killed a person needed on an impressive warrant Monday after the person pulled out a firearm exterior a shopping mall, Police Chief Joseph Deras stated.
Deras stated two officers had been on routine patrol at about 1 p.m. once they acknowledged the person as somebody needed on a felony warrant associated to firearm violations.
“As they went to contact the person, they had been in full uniform. The person clearly acknowledged that they had been law enforcement officials. He instantly produced a firearm,” Deras stated throughout a media briefing Monday afternoon.
The officers retreated, Deras stated on an audio recording made by the Publish Unbiased newspaper in Glenwood Springs. One officer fired on the man, wounding him. As the person moved towards his automobile, the officers moved to a second place and the officer fired once more on the suspect.
