Goyal, Ng co-chair 6th Canada-India dialogue on trade, investment | Latest News India

Union commerce and trade minister Piyush Goyal and his Canadian counterpart, Mary Ng, co-chaired the sixth Canada-India Ministerial Dialogue on Commerce and Funding, in Ottawa on Monday and mentioned an Early Progress Commerce Settlement (EPTA) between the 2 international locations.

The EPTA is an interim step in the direction of the Complete Financial Partnership Settlement. Indian and Canadian officers earlier held a seventh spherical of negotiations for the EPTA in Ottawa final month.

In a tweet, Goyal stated his dialogue with Ng strengthened how forging an EPTA would additional deepen the India-Canadian commerce ties, mutually benefiting each international locations.

“With our deepening commerce ties, each India & Canada sit up for additional improve collaboration in new & various areas for higher progress.”

Ng, who hosted a dinner for Goyal, tweeted, “We each know the longer term lies in constructing a clear financial system, one that’s inclusive and creates prosperity for each our individuals. Let’s proceed to put money into each other’s success!”

She stated she seemed ahead to working collectively over the subsequent few days to advance commerce relationships, benefiting companies and staff.

Goyal, who might be in Toronto on Tuesday and Wednesday earlier than departing for India on Thursday, will meet with Canadian CEOs. The Canada-Indian Enterprise Council may even host a reception for him.
