Gross direct tax collections grew 24% to ₹15.67 lakh crore this fiscal

Gross direct tax collections grew 24 per cent to ₹15.67 lakh crore to date this fiscal, the finance ministry mentioned on Saturday.

The web collections are about 79 per cent of Revised Estimates (RE) of direct tax assortment for present fiscal, the CBDT mentioned.

The revised estimates for the present fiscal pegged direct tax revenues at ₹16.50 lakh crore, greater than the finances estimates of ₹14.20 lakh crore.

“The provisional figures of direct tax collections as much as tenth February, 2023 proceed to register regular development. Direct tax collections as much as tenth February, 2023 present that gross collections are at ₹15.67 lakh crore which is 24.09 per cent greater than the gross collections for the corresponding interval of final 12 months,” Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) mentioned in a press release.

Within the present fiscal (2022-23), the revenues from direct tax (which incorporates earnings and company taxes) are projected to develop by over 17 per cent in comparison with 2021-22 fiscal when the gathering was ₹14.08 lakh crore. Between April to February 10, the expansion fee for gross Company Revenue Tax (CIT) and gross Private Revenue Tax (PIT) collections was 19.33 per cent and 29.63 per cent respectively.

After adjustment of refunds, the online development in CIT collections is 15.84 per cent and that in PIT collections is 21.23 per cent (PIT together with STT).

Refunds amounting to ₹2.69 lakh crore have been issued throughout April 1, 2022 to February 10, 2023, that are 61.58 per cent greater than refunds issued throughout the identical interval within the previous 12 months.
