Interstate 70 is closed in each instructions close to Vail for a crash, based on the Colorado Division of Transportation.
The interstate is totally closed between Exit 190 for Vail Move Summit and Exit 180 for East Vail, about 3 miles west of Copper Mountain, based on CDOT officers.
In response to CDOT, westbound I-70 can also be closed for “security considerations” between Exit 190 for Vail Move Summit and Exit 201 for Frisco.
CDOT officers didn’t say if the second, prolonged closure was associated to the crash.
No estimated time of reopening was obtainable Sunday afternoon.
