US Senator Tom Cotton repeatedly requested Shou Zi Chew, the CEO of Chinese language-owned social media app TikTok, about his hyperlinks to the Chinese language Communist Social gathering, regardless of Mr Chew repeatedly asserting that he’s Singaporean at a listening to in Washington DC on Wednesday.
On this minute-long trade, Mr Cotton asks Mr Chew about his citizenship, passport and whether or not he’s a member of the CCP, to which he replies “Senator, I am Singaporean. No.”
TikTok is owned by Chinese language firm ByteDance.
Mr Chew denies his firm has ever shared or obtained a request to share US customers’ knowledge with the Chinese language authorities.
