India will stage a MotoGP race on the Buddh Worldwide Circuit in New Delhi from 2023, organisers mentioned on Friday.
Business rights holders Dorna Sports activities mentioned earlier this month that they have been in talks with the state authorities of Uttar Pradesh and India’s sports activities ministry.
“We’ve quite a lot of followers in India and we’re excited to have the ability to carry the game to them,” Dorna Sports activities CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta mentioned in a press release.
“India can be a key marketplace for the motorbike business and subsequently, by extension, for MotoGP as the head of the two-wheeled world.”
The 5.14km monitor on the outskirts of New Delhi held Method One races between 2011-13 earlier than it was dropped from the calendar.
The announcement comes after MotoGP earlier this week mentioned it had agreed a five-year deal to stage races on the Sokol Worldwide Racetrack in Kazakhstan from 2023.
MotoGP’s 2023 season will start with a race at Portugal’s Algarve Worldwide Circuit in Portimao from March 24-26.
