India welcomes UK court’s decision rejecting Nirav Modi’s appeal against extradition

A day after the Excessive Courtroom in London ordered the extradition of fugitive diamond Nirav Modi to India to face fees of fraud and cash laundering, the Ministry of Exterior Affairs Thursday mentioned that the nation needs to carry “him again as quickly as potential”.

Welcoming the decision of the UK Excessive Courtroom, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi mentioned that India had been “vigorously pursuing the extradition of financial fugitives in order that they face justice in India.”

Modi, wished by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate in a Rs 13,500-crore financial institution mortgage fraud case, moved a step nearer to extradition on Wednesday, after the Excessive Courtroom in London rejected his attraction. Citing psychological well being grounds, Modi had appealed towards a district courtroom extradition order. He had argued that he was affected by melancholy and his extradition to India might exacerbate his tendency to commit suicide.

Modi faces two further fees of “inflicting the disappearance of proof” and intimidating witnesses or “legal intimidation to trigger loss of life”, which have been added to the CBI case.
