Indian-American lady analysis scientist, Darshana Patel, has introduced her bid to run for the California State Meeting District 76 in 2024.
Ms Patel, 48, is searching for the North County seat that might be vacated after 2024 by Brian Maienschein, who’s termed out.
“Because the daughter of immigrants who struggled to grasp the American Dream, I do know the challenges that households can face throughout laborious occasions,” Ms Patel, a group chief and a Democrat, was quoted as saying by the Instances of San Diego.
“I’m operating for State Meeting as a result of I wish to be sure that each individual has the chance to succeed and thrive, and since I can use my expertise as a scientist, elected faculty board member, and civic chief to make a distinction of their lives,” Ms Patel, who moved to California when she was a teen, added.
Ms Patel was elected to the Poway Unified board when the district was struggling due to monetary mismanagement and felony embezzlement and helped to revive fiscal accountability. She was reelected in 2020.
Along with her work on the college board, Patel serves on the California Fee on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs and as president of the San Diego County Faculty Boards Affiliation.
She has beforehand held govt positions on the Rancho Penasquitos Planning Board, Rancho Penasquitos City Council, Park Village Elementary Faculty PTA and Schooling Basis Board.
Ms Patel, her husband, and their three daughters reside in San Diego.
She has finished a BA in Biochemistry at Occidental School and a PhD in Biophysics from the College of California, Irvine.
