Iran has arrested the deputy chief editor of Fars information company, state media stated, greater than per week after the company was reportedly hit by a cyberattack.
“The deputy head of Fars information company, Abbas Darvish Tavanger, has been arrested for falsifying information,” state broadcaster IRIB stated late Monday.
He would stay in custody in the course of the investigation, it added.
In a press release posted on its Telegram channel, Fars stated on November 26 that its work had been disrupted by hackers.

A shadowy group that calls itself “Black Reward” later claimed accountability for the cyberattack, saying it had gained entry to dozens of confidential paperwork.
The arrest comes in opposition to the backdrop of nationwide unrest sparked by the September 16 demise of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, after her detention for an alleged breach of Iran’s costume code for ladies.
A whole lot of individuals have been killed on the street violence and hundreds have been arrested, together with outstanding actors, journalists and legal professionals.
