White Home Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reminded CNN White Home Correspondent Jeremy Diamond that state dinner invitations for a president’s members of the family are “not unusual” after he requested about Hunter Biden’s invite within the wake of a plea settlement he reached with the Division of Justice.
Biden reached a plea deal on gun and tax evasion fees on Tuesday, two days earlier than he attended a state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi later within the week.
Diamond, on Friday, requested Jean-Pierre if she may break down President Joe Biden’s “pondering and decision-making” associated to the invitation earlier than she snapped again on the reporter’s query.
“I’m simply not going to get into household dialogue, private household dialogue. As you recognize, Hunter is his son. I’m simply not going to get into that,” Jean-Pierre replied.
Diamond went on to ask Jean-Pierre what would happen if Hunter Biden wasn’t associated to the president.
“Nicely, let me ask you this: If Hunter Biden wasn’t the President’s son, would he have invited somebody who had simply reached a plea settlement with federal prosecutors two days…,” Diamond requested.
“Nicely, a pair [of] issues. Once more, that’s his son… he’s a member of the family. It isn’t unusual for members of the family to attend occasions on the White Home. We may take a look at previous presidents; I’m certain you have got. So that isn’t unusual,” Jean-Pierre asserted.
“Because it pertains to something associated to — to Hunter, I’m simply not going to reply to it from right here.”
