The North Western Karnataka Highway Transport Company (NWKRTC) on Thursday suspended a driver for allegedly stopping a bus mid-route to carry out namaz. The alleged incident occurred on an NWKRTC bus plying on the Vishalgad to Hanagal route close to Gattur Cross, exterior Hubballi, on Tuesday night. Purported movies of the driving force performing namaz had gone viral on social media.
In line with a report submitted by the divisional safety superintendent of Haveri Division, the driving force, A R Mulla, was working the bus with passengers on board. Mulla allegedly parked the bus on the left facet of the highway and carried out namaz on the seat behind the driving force’s seat. The report deemed this motion a dereliction of obligation.
The report additionally ordered the suspension of the driving force below the conduct and self-discipline guidelines. “Mulla has been suspended with instant impact pending an inquiry,” the report said. In the course of the suspension, he’ll obtain a subsistence allowance of fifty per cent of his gross wages, excluding every day and different allowances.
Karnataka Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy had ordered an inquiry into the incident to confirm the allegations. In a letter to the NWKRTC managing director, Reddy emphasised that public service staff should adhere to strict guidelines and laws.

The minister had instructed authorities to take disciplinary motion if the driving force is discovered responsible and to implement measures to forestall comparable incidents sooner or later.
